About the course
The PADI Basic Mermaid course in Bali combines learning the necessary knowledge and principles about becoming a mermaid in Bali. The confined water skill development session introduces the fun of mermaid diving.
The course covers mermaid diving’s background and culture, primary safety considerations, equipment and basic water skills.
Academics
To join in the PADI Basic Mermaid course in Bali, you must be at least six years old.
You need to be able to swim at least 25m/80 ft without swim aids, able to float comfortably at the surface for at least 3 mins and in good physical health. No prior snorkeling, skin diving or freediving course completion is required.
The PADI Basic Mermaid course consists of two sections:
- Study independently using PADI Basic Mermaid eLearning (or our instructor will conduct classroom sessions if not available in your language).
- A pool training session to practice basic mermaid diving skills, problem prevention and handling, and how to make mermaid dives.

The minimum age for the PADI Discover Mermaid experience and the PADI Basic Mermaid course is six years old.
What equipment do mermaid students use?
Mermaiding only requires a few items: a mask, snorkel, fins, weight belt (sometimes), and of course, a mermaid tail (monofin) intended for swimming.
