Bali is on the top of any scuba diver’s travel list but when thinking of scuba diving on the Island of the Gods you must also think of where to stay while diving in Bali.

Diving in Bali – Sanur

Without a doubt, Sanur is the ideal city to stay in while diving in Bali and mainly because Sanur is a central location on the island. From here you can reach any location in and around the island in a comfortable and record time compared to staying in Canggu, Ubud or Uluwatu.

In Sanur, you will discover various benefits. It is more quiet than Kuta or Seminyak, but with a fair share of diverse high quality restaurants and bars. The beach is almost within walking distance from any main hotel or resort, western style supermarkets are everywhere, local shopping is exciting and most importantly, you are in the middle of all of the main dive centers Bali has to offer.

Almost all of the dive shops in Bali are concentrated in Sanur, and there are a couple of reasons:

  • Sanur is home to the main port that allows speed boats to go to Nusa Penida for scuba diving and snorkeling;
  • Being located in Sanur allows dive centers to visit any dive site in Bali.
Where to stay while diving in Bali

Here is an idea of travel times if you are wondering where to stay while diving in Bali, and you choose Sanur:

Nusa Penida – 5 minutes car ride to the port and 45 minutes speed boat ride to Nusa Penida island
Padang Bai – 45-60 minutes car ride
